Driver Coaching and Simulator Lab Becomes Official Partner

PALMETTO, Fla. – Andersen Promotions is pleased to announce that SimMetric Driver Performance Labs will kick off the New Year as an Official Partner of the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires. The addition of North America’s premier mobile driver coaching and simulator lab further strengthens the valuable educational platform on deck for one of the most successful driver development programs in the world.

Competitors in Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires and the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship will benefit from trackside access at all events on the 2020 calendar to SimMetric Labs’ one-of-a-kind mobile unit featuring a fully-loaded CXC Motion Pro II driving simulator with high fidelity models of the IL-15, PM-18 and USF-17 chassis to augment actual on-track time.

“It is very exciting and relevant that we are welcoming SimMetric Driver Performance Labs as a partner to the Road to Indy,” said Jonny Baker, Series Development Director. “Simulator work and preparation is an important tool in the modern day motorsports arena, so being able to provide a first-rate service to drivers and their teams/coaches at the race track is a very important step for us to take. Whether it’s learning tracks or working on issues throughout an event with coaches and engineers, I fully expect this to be a tool that will further enhance our reputation as the leading driver development ladder series.”

SimMetric Labs was founded in 2018 by Greg De Giorgis, a successful motorsport data engineer who saw a need to bring the benefits of a simulator experience to the race track to work with drivers before and between on-track sessions. With live telemetry and video review, a helmet-ready intercom system for live coaching, eye-tracking glasses and private debrief lounge, SimMetric Labs offers the ultimate driver coaching and performance development resource.

"As the principal of SimMetric Driver Performance Labs, I am in equal parts honored and excited for this new partnership with the Road to Indy series,” said De Giorgis. “With the first fully mobile driver coaching and simulator lab in North America, SimMetric Labs is aiming to revolutionize the way driving simulators are used to prepare racers of all skill levels for competition.

“By stationing our mobile lab in the Road to Indy paddock for every test and race event of the season, we will be offering a completely new resource to the world's most talented young drivers who are looking to make use of every available option to increase their performance. I want to sincerely thank Dan Andersen, Michelle Kish, Jonny Baker and the entire Road to Indy staff for the opportunity to partner with the series. We look forward to meeting the 2020 competitors in the coming months and kicking off the season in St. Petersburg!"

SimMetric Labs has quickly established its footprint as a vital resource for drivers with its mobile coaching lab attending all IMSA-sanctioned events as Official Industry Support. Proponents include noted driver coach Jonatan Jorge of JJ Racing Development, who has worked with Indy Lights champions and Arrow McLaren SP NTT IndyCar Series drivers Oliver Askew and Patricio O’Ward, Indy Lights Vice Champion and Ed Carpenter Racing IndyCar driver Rinus VeeKay and reigning Indy Pro 2000 champion Kyle Kirkwood to name a few. Jorge also utilizes the SimMetric mobile sim services to supplement his ability to coach drivers competing at various levels in IMSA.

”The ability to have a quality simulator with a remarkable facility at the race track is absolutely imperative for our drivers,” said Jorge. “We cover so much ground between sessions during a race weekend with this new tool. Ever since SimMetric Labs came onto the scene, we have upped our game in a massive way.”

SimMetric Labs will be officially introduced to all Road to Indy competitors at the series’ annual Spring Training on March 7-9 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“We are excited to welcome Greg and SimMetric Driver Performance Labs to our Road to Indy family,” said Dan Andersen, Owner and CEO of Andersen Promotions. “Our goal is to always provide the best training possible for our competitors as they continue to further their careers on our racing ladder. Adding SimMetric Labs and the convenience of having their resources trackside is another valuable asset for our teams and drivers.”
