Team Pelfrey carried its strong form from this year’s Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires into this past weekend’s Chris Griffis Memorial Mazda Road to Indy Open Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Grand Prix road course. Three young drivers chose to “test the Pro Mazda waters” with Team Pelfrey in preparation for potential campaigns in 2015, with 15-year-old Mexican talent Patricio O’Ward stunning onlookers by posting the fastest lap of all. USF2000 graduate Peter Portante, from Plainville, Conn., and Team Pelfrey F1600 regular Augie Lerch, from Tucson, Ariz., also impressed during the test.

Two days of testing for all three levels of the Mazda Road to Indy concluded today during the fourth annual Chris Griffis Memorial Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. A total of 25 drivers participated in the outing which serves as an “audition” platform for both teams and drivers looking ahead to 2015 campaigns.

Familiar names and new faces will converge on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend for the fourth annual Chris Griffis Memorial Mazda Road to Indy Open Test. Named in honor of the former team manager for multiple Indy Lights championship-winning Schmidt Peterson Motorsports with Curb-Agajanian who passed away in September of 2011, the two-day test will feature all three levels of the highly acclaimed Mazda Road to Indy on the 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course as well as demonstration laps of the Dallara IL-15 Indy Lights car to be driven by Verizon IndyCar Series driver Josef Newgarden.

Juncos Racing is set to test four drivers this weekend September 13-14 in the third annual Chris Griffis Mazda Road to Indy Memorial Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Drivers Timothé Buret, Austin Cindric, Garett Grist, and José Gutiérrez will test in the Pro Mazda sessions on the 2.439-mile, 14-turn Indianapolis Grand Prix Circuit.

In just its first season competing in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing finished second in the 2014 team standings, and its drivers finished second and third.
