MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – JDC MotorSports' quest for a fourth Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires title is taking an important first step, with the Minnesota-based squad confirming the signing of up-and-comer Lloyd Read. The British-born Californian will make his full-time Mazda Road to Indy debut in 2013 with impressive results already on his young racing resume.

Since joining the Pro Mazda Championship (formerly the Star Mazda Championship) in 2006, JDC MotorSports has strived to not only win races and championships, but also develop future stars of motorsports. The renowned junior formula car squad has done just that over the years, and believes it is poised to do it again with the addition of Read to its 2013 Pro Mazda Championship line-up.

While Read enters the upcoming Pro Mazda season essentially a rookie, he will have the benefit of having already raced with JDC MotorSports in the highly-competitive Mazda Road to Indy series, after contesting the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca round. Setting the stage for a strong season-long partnership with JDC in 2013, Read impressed in the doubleheader, scoring two top-10 finishes against talented competition. Given JDC MotorSports experience and expertise in the pro Mazda ranks, combined Read's 2011 rookie championship-winning season in the Formula Car Challenge Pro Mazda, the 22 year-old is set to be a front-runner in 2013.

"We are very excited to have Lloyd under our tent for the 2013 season," stated JDC MotorSports team principal John Church. "He has shown great speed, and we look forward to developing him into a consistent front-runner."

"I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to drive for JDC MotorSports in 2013," commented read, who races thanks to support from Read Motorsports, Aerocraft Design, and Maaco. "JDC has proven to be the top team in the Pro Mazda paddock over the years, and for me to be able to join them in my rookie year is beyond what words can explain. We are going to be the team that everybody is chasing in 2013!"

Read will be part of a multi-car title challenge by JDC Motorsports, with his teammates to be announced shortly.

JDC MotorSports and Read begin the pursuit of top honors in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires via pre-season testing, followed by the yet to be confirmed season-opening doubleheader.

About JDC MotorSports:
Involved in formula car racing since its inception in 1994, JDC MotorSports has established itself as one of the leading junior open-wheel teams in North America. Initially making its mark in the F2000 class of club racing competition, JDC MotorSports was soon a team worth watching in the pro ranks. Competing in the Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship, the team not only won races, but also helped develop multiple young drivers. In 2005, JDC MotorSports expanded its efforts, entering the Star Mazda Championship. Quickly becoming one of the top teams in the series, JDC captured both the driver and team titles in 2007, as well as Rookie of the Year honors, with Dane Cameron scoring a series-high three wins. In 2008, JDC MotorSports was the runner-up in the Star Mazda Championship and finished fourth in its inaugural season of F2000 Championship Series competition. The Minnesota-based team won the Star Mazda Championship title with Rookie of the Year Adam Christodoulou, and the F2000 Championship Series title with Chris Miller in 2009. The following year, JDC continued its winning ways, earning the Rookie of the Year award in the Star Mazda Championship with Connor De Phillippi, and scoring a non-points win in the USF2000 National Championship. In 2011, the Minneapolis-based squad captured its third Star Mazda Championship title with Tristan Vautier, scored a win in the USF2000 National Championship, and made its Prototype Lites Championship debut, earning five podium finishes. JDC MotorSports added to its Star Mazda Championship win tally, USF2000 Championship podium total in 2012, and finished as the Prototype Lites Championship runner-up.
