Three-time series champion ready to fight for top honors with Meyer, Piedrahita, and Read behind the wheels at Circuit of the Americas

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – JDC MotorSports' quest for an impressive fourth Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires title gets underway this coming weekend (March 1-2), when the 2013 edition of the Mazda Road to Indy series contests Rounds One and Two in Austin, Texas. The Minnesota-based team is well positioned to immediately challenge for top honors, with Zack Meyer, Juan Piedrahita, and Lloyd Read showing good speed in the lead-up to the season-opening doubleheader.

After an exciting, albeit short, off-season, JDC MotorSports is ready to get back to doing what it does best...challenging for junior formula car supremacy. First up on the 2013 race calendar is the opening two races on the 16-race Pro Mazda Championship schedule at the modern and impressive Circuit of the Americas road course in central Texas. While the 3.427-mile, 20-turn track, which plays host to the Formula One United States Grand Prix, certainly presents a new challenge to the entire Pro Mazda field, having opened previous title fights at Sebring International Raceway, JDC MotorSports has all the tools to succeed.

The talented JDC line-up of Meyer, Piedrahita, and Read enter the season-opening weekend having already begun their quest for a strong Pro Mazda campaign via official series testing at the Circuit of the Americas this past Saturday and Sunday (February 23-24). Focused on car and driver development, rather than an outright fast lap, the skilled trio made the most of JDC MotorSports' extensive Pro Mazda experience and expertise. That being said, some quick laps still went up on the timesheets. Meyer in the end led the team charge in his No. 66 Damis Partners III/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports entry via the fourth quickest time. Read, having steadily found more speed as the two-day run progressed, ended up seventh fastest in the No. 16 Read Motorsports/Aerocraft Design/Maaco/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports car. Piedrahita made it three JDC cars in the top-10 at the conclusion of testing, with the No. 9 Petrosur/GFK Motors/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports entry turning the ninth best time. Given what was learned both in and out of the cars by the skilled trio and the JDC crew, the stage is now set for some strong runs when the green flag waves in Texas in a few days time.

"I'm really excited to be with JDC as a driver, and to have them as my team," stated Meyer. "I'm looking forward to a good year...a winning year. So far things have been looking up, and I can only hope it continues, and keep pushing for the best."

"I'm very pleased with the progress we made during the test this past weekend," commented Read. "Every session we got faster and faster, and will be aiming for a top-five finish in the races."

"I'm very excited to start the season in Texas at the Circuit of the Americas," added Piedrahita. "It's going to be a thriller, and I'm sure we will be competitive."

JDC MotorSports' Meyer, Piedrahita, and Read return to the cockpits on Thursday (February 28), when three promoter's test sessions take place at the Circuit of the Americas. The 2013 Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires title chase officially commences one day later, when the lone practice and qualifying sessions of the Texas doubleheader are run prior to Round One at 4:25 pm local time. The rolling start for race two is slated for 1:10 local time on Saturday (March 2).
