Josh Green Continues Championship Fight at WWTR

MADISON, Ill. – Turn 3 Motorsport will head to the 1.25-mile oval of World Wide Technology Raceway near St. Louis this weekend for Round 15 of the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. Joining the team for his Indy Pro 2000 debut will be 17-year-old Trey Burke who most recently competed in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. The fourth-generation racer will pilot the #2 car as a stand-in for season driver Jonathan Browne who is tied up with mandatory college exams in Dublin this week.

“I’m super excited to be making my Indy Pro 2000 debut with Turn 3 Motorsport at such a high speed track,” said Burke. “I know the team and the car will be really strong all weekend long, meaning a good result is up for grabs. This weekend can’t come soon enough. Thanks again to Peter and the entire crew for giving me this opportunity, it really means a lot.”

Josh Green will go into the penultimate round lying fifth in the championship with 239 points, just 18 points away from the third spot. This will be the 19-year-old’s first race on the Gateway speedway, but with a podium finish on the Lucas Oil Raceway oval earlier this year and a strong test at WWTR at the beginning of the month, Green is set to challenge for another top result this weekend.

“I’m super excited to get going for World Wide Technology Raceway,” said Green. “We had a really positive test a couple of weeks back which has prepared us well for the race weekend. We still have some test items to run through, but I am ready to get fighting. The oval at Gateway is my first real speedway, and it’s been an insane experience to get to grips with it. The draft is strong, and the race is going to be exciting!”

Turn 3 Motorsport has been successful at Gateway in previous years, winning the pole with driver James Roe last season and finishing fourth in the race and taking a top-five result with Danial Frost in 2020. With points being worth more at oval circuits, the team is eager to keep that momentum going and earn plenty of valuable championship points this weekend.

“I’m looking forward to World Wide Technology Raceway,” said Team Owner Peter Dempsey. “I think it’s one of our coolest tracks that Indy Pro 2000 gets to race on in the 2022 season. It’s unfortunate that Jonathan can’t make this race due to his mandatory final exams for college, but at the same time it’s a great opportunity for Trey to join us this weekend and make his Indy Pro 2000 debut. We had a good test here a couple of weeks ago, and we are really excited to get into the race weekend and see if we can pull back some points in the championship with Josh and fight for P2 in the points.”

Pre-event testing begins on Friday followed by practice, qualifying, and the Indy Pro 2000 VP Racing Fuels Oval Challenge of St. Louis on Saturday.
