Brownsburg, IN (December 4, 2013) – 17-year-old Mexico City, Mexico native, Alfonso Celis, will make his debut with Juncos Racing for the first time in the Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires next week at Barber Motorsports Park’s official series test.

In 2012, Alfonso Celis competed in the Formula BMW Talent Cup along with being involved in ALMS LMPC testing.  Celis entered both the FIA Formula 3 European Championship and Formula Renault 2.0 NEC Championship in 2013.

“I'm very happy to be able to say that I am working with such an amazing team in the coming weeks,” said Celis.  “I'm very thankful for the opportunity, which I will for sure enjoy and do my best.  I want to thank Juncos Racing for the opportunity to test at Barber, also my family, and the people who believe in me and have been working with me throughout this amazing journey.  I'm also very exited to have my first test with the team, get to know the car and the team better, with the hopes to work with them in the future.”

Juncos Racing Team Owner, Ricardo Juncos, is eager to have Celis test the Juncos Racing Pro Mazda car for the first time and hopes to bring him on board full time with Juncos Racing in the 2014 Pro Mazda Championship.

“It will be a pleasure for us (Juncos Racing) to have Alfonso Celis for the open test at Barber,” said Juncos.  “He's a young driver with a lot of experience and talent, coming from Europe’s Formula Renault 2.0 and British F3.  He will be a good asset to the team and the test will be good for him to get to know Barber Motorsports Park as he is looking to race here in the 2014 season."

The Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires will test December 9 and 10, 2013 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama and open the official season on March 29, 2014 at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.  For more information visit and
